ECHAR UNA CABEZADITA EN EL AEROPUERTO/ HAVE A NAP AT THE AIRPORT

Feliz finde!

Long waits at airports could be very tiring. At first you can have a walk and visit all the duty free shops, later you can also have something to eat in any of the cafe at the airport, but suddenly you realize this is just an airport and your only thought is to catch the next plane to your destiny.

A Russian company invented a new concept called Sleepbox, and as the name sais, it is a box which dimensions are 2m x 1,40m x 2,30m and where we can sleep for a minimum time of 15 minutes paid with our credit card. Inside the box we can also enjoy a TV and wireless internet.

Now we can only see then at Dubai's airport, but we will see them soon in many other international airports.

Have a nice week end!

DIA DE SAN PATRICIO/ ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Today we are celebrating St. Patrick's day, patron saint of Ireland, which makes it a holiday for the Irish living in their country and abroad. The best known St. Patrick's day parades are the ones of Dublin and New York; the second one is celebrated since 1762 and nowadays is followed by more than 2 million people.
If you are not in any of those two cities but you want to have a St. Patrick experience, you can go to an irish pub in your city and enjoy a Guinness pint in a good atmosphere.

EXCURSION A LOGROÑO

Yesterday we went on a day trip to Logroño in La Rioja, with the idea of eating tapas and make some shopping.
Much to our surprise we discovered a Rodin exposition at the "Plaza del Mercado". The expo, organised by CaixaForum, has been travelling all over Spain since 2009 leaded by "The Thinker". This is a good chance to enjoy the art in the streets, without going to a museum. The expo will be in Logroño till the 20th of march.

Taking the opportunity of being in Logroño, you can go arround Laurel street and have some of the famous tapas. One of the best known are the grilled mushrooms, but we made a new discovery at "El Meson del Abuelo"; Grilled cuttlefish with mayo and garlic and parlic sauce.

Brighton's West Pier is one of the most pictured sights of Brighton and the reason is its appearance. The Pier is nowadays only a stucture and it was built in 1866. The highest season of the pier were happy 20's and after the decline it was closed in 1975 and declared unsafe.
2003 was the worst year of the pier's history, when two fires destroyed its structrure.
After the presentation of several rebuilding proyects the past and the future become one with a new idea: i360 Brighton. This 175 meter high tower (with a 141 meter observatory) is designed by the same architect as "The London Eye" and will be ready in 2013.
The West Pier's spirit in a 21st century building.

ISLA SAONA

The day trip to Isla Saona is one of the most popular tours once you are in Punta Cana. This island is inhabitated by 500 people and despite of being a piece of paradise there are no masive tourist hotels.
Before arriving to the island, the coach stops al Altos de Chavon, a small village built in 1976 in a mediterranean style; and there is also the oportunity to visit the natural pools and play with the starfish.
Once at the island there is time off for eating , sunbathing and enjoying the amazing landscape.
The way back to the hotel is amazing! Sailing in a catamaran dancing with the crew and drinking the "R" vitamin.

OpenAirMuseum

Lisbon is well known for its ancient look buildings, the cobbled streets and its trams, but hidden somewhere in the Bairro Altos streets we can find an open air city museum. Lots of the districts facades are full of graffitis; modern unnoticed works of art representing a new concept of museum. The Bairro Alto is perfect for hanging arround the streets or even have dinner or a coctail at any of the bars.

MUST HAVES!

In a month now we'll be in Turkey! Now is time to get ready for the trip, look for different sights and hotels. It is a hard matter but I enjoy it a lot, so do I while travelling. It's a different way of enjoying the holidays but makes the wait shorter.

The first thing i've done is buying a Lonely Planet guide about Turkey. Among all the different guides I prefer LP  because I consider the maps are really useful and it has very precise info about the destiny.
I read as well other travel blogs or some of my magazines, and my last experience was to ask for information to the Turkish embasy. They sent me the little white guide you see at the picture, some maps and a DVD.

VAMOS AL MUSEO/LET'S GO TO MUSEUM

If you don't usually go to traditional museums, you should visit The Beatles Story.
The story starts in the 1940s, decade where the Fab Four were born. Throught th audioguide some of the group's friends will help us to go in detail at the Beatles story. The "trip" will take us to Liverpool, Germany, London, the famous Cavern bar and we can even have a rest at the seats of the plane where they went first to the USA or the Yellow Submarine.
At the end of the exhibition we can enjoy the lives of each member of the group, so as the tribute to the last phase of John Lennon's life and the amazing song Imagine.
The visit to the museum lasts about 1hr and a half, so take into account having enough time to visit it.
